Classic Captain America by ChristopherStevens Classic Captain America by ChristopherStevens
Yeah, I love drawing Cap. When it came time for me to do a piece for the Heroes Con art auction, I went with something I knew I'd have fun with. Another Cap. The auction went better than I could've possibly hoped for and it was a great time. I've gone to Heroes since I was a kid and it was a real pleasure to have a piece in the auction to help out Shelton. I hope I can do it every year and have the same luck. I wonder if anyone would mind if I did Cap every year? That might be too much. Plus, tits tend to bring in the big bucks..

Prismacolor cool greys, Copics, color pencil and watercolor paint on vellum.

There's nothing in the rule book that says Cap can't be saving a gal, fighting alongside one, etc.--Sharon Carter, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Ms. Marvel, Spitfire, Miss America, Diamondback, Viper, Warrior Woman, would all fit easily.

Yeah, they are a pain in the ass. Haven't found a short cut that looks good to me. Guess I'll have to keep doing all those scales until I do.

Doing it the slow way eh? That's cool. Good chance for you to catch up with your boys.

It ain't up to me, bro. Doing everything I can to get this thing under control. Even cut out red meat. My favorite thing. Seems to be helping, but who knows. Six months is a long ways off.

Thank you much! Yeah, markers are a blast. I'm playing around with the paints more and more, but the marker base is where it all starts and they're incredibly versatile.

Good grief, that's nice.

How do you manage to convince the markers to lay down such even, smoothly-blended tones? I'm still trying to teach myself to do it and haven't had much success yet.

Thanks. I just work from dark to light and I saturate the board heavily. The inks take care of the rest. They're brilliant tools.

I think I've just been laying them down too thin, so every stroke and bit of overlap shows up really strongly. Hmm. Must experiment.

Thanks!

Don't be afraid to lay them down heavy. The inks will eat into each other better that way and the strokes blend out better.

I think I need to invest in some thicker paper, as well. Time to go to the art store!

Thank you again, sir. <3

Captain America is as American as baseball and pie, so anybody with the sense of stars and stripes will love him for eternity ( plus other nationalities, of course).

Although most want to see a stripping She-Hulk or Lady Deathstrike with all that hanging out. *shudders*
