Super Mario by ChristopherStevens
Super Mario
Continuing with my nostalgia painting series. Like most 80's gamers Mario was a pretty awesome to me. I didn't have a lot of Mario's games, but I loved them all and have so many great memories of playing them. He's kind of a big deal so he was a no brainer for a painting and a lot of fun to work on. FYI, my favorite Mario game is still Mario 64.

Bat Bot by ChristopherStevens
Bat Bot
This one was inspired by a toy I saw in the store that looked almost the same as this, but I bot-ified it and changed a couple other things. I just thought it was so cute.

Tmnt by ChristopherStevens
Tmnt
One last Turtles piece to get it out of my system. I loved drawing them as a kid and I still do. I was attempting a bit of a Mignola-esque layout with this one. I had fun with it.

Skull Kickers by ChristopherStevens
Skull Kickers
My buddy Jim Zubkavich and I created these guys some years ago. Jim being the unstoppable force that he is, soldiered on to do a whole series for Image that is well worth the read if you haven't checked it out yet. It's a really fun and lighthearted take on classic fantasy adventuring fiction. I was trying to make a definitive Skull Kickers image and do something special for Jim with this one which of course never seems to work. I'm happy with the piece, but "definitive" images always seem to happen by accident. The harder you try to create something magical, the less likely it is to happen.

The Stalk final by ChristopherStevens
The Stalk final
I wasn't familiar with these character or the book even but it's a really out there design and I had a lot of fun with it.

Hey guys. I just wanted to send everyone a big thank you for all the kind words, well wishes and support that has been sent my way. Some of you even shared similar stories with me that were tough to read. Its hard to know what to say to someone who's lost a loved one and it's hard to know what to say when someone gives you their best. I've been overwhelmed by the response to my "Patricia" post. It means a lot to me that people have taken the time to send a kind word my way so many, many thanks to all of you. Nothing was more important to me than my mom and it's been really tough, but everyone's thoughts has helped I think. You guys dont need to respond to this post. I just needed to give everyone my heartfelt thanks.

Heh, well thanks for the compliment, but tbh, I still dont know how to use acrylics. They feel much more unnatural and difficult to me. Oils feel right because they blend so naturally. Acrylics feel like a battle against the clock or something. I agree though...painting is hard.

Oh hey, have you tried acrylic mediums that extend drying times?  Or making your own stay wet palette using a container with a lid, a damp sponge, and wax paper on top?  My paint stayed wet 3 months before I threw it out.  It probably would have been wet longer if I let it stay in there.

I do have a stay wet palette, yeah,. It works great, but my issue with acrylic is how fast they dry on the canvas. I've tried mediums that are suppose to keep it workable longer, but I didnt notice much of a difference. I still don't understand how people paint with that stuff LOL.
