Deadpools Iron Throne by ChristopherStevens
Deadpools Iron Throne
This is my first regular Deadpool commission. I've done a couple sketch covers, but surprisingly, this is the first normal one and it was a a fun theme. The collector has a series of these where different characters sit on a throne made of Iron Man suits..a play on the Game of Throne's Iron Throne. I thought it was a good idea and enjoyed the piece.

Dark Knight Returns by ChristopherStevens
Dark Knight Returns
As an 80's kid and huge Batman fan, DKR was a big deal to me, so on the few occasions I've been asked to draw Bats in his armor suit have all been a treat for me. I'm very curious to see how the film handles this material. I never thought there would be a major Hollywood film that actually recreated this story or was even inspired by it. Crazy times.

Super Mario by ChristopherStevens
Super Mario
Continuing with my nostalgia painting series. Like most 80's gamers Mario was a pretty awesome to me. I didn't have a lot of Mario's games, but I loved them all and have so many great memories of playing them. He's kind of a big deal so he was a no brainer for a painting and a lot of fun to work on. FYI, my favorite Mario game is still Mario 64.

Bat Bot by ChristopherStevens
Bat Bot
This one was inspired by a toy I saw in the store that looked almost the same as this, but I bot-ified it and changed a couple other things. I just thought it was so cute.

Hey guys. I just wanted to send everyone a big thank you for all the kind words, well wishes and support that has been sent my way. Some of you even shared similar stories with me that were tough to read. Its hard to know what to say to someone who's lost a loved one and it's hard to know what to say when someone gives you their best. I've been overwhelmed by the response to my "Patricia" post. It means a lot to me that people have taken the time to send a kind word my way so many, many thanks to all of you. Nothing was more important to me than my mom and it's been really tough, but everyone's thoughts has helped I think. You guys dont need to respond to this post. I just needed to give everyone my heartfelt thanks.

I have to admit, I'm jealous of how quickly you've taken to oil painting.  Probably because you could use acrylics beforehand.  It's hard  :prettyplease: - NaNoEmo 5/30  Depressed

Heh, well thanks for the compliment, but tbh, I still dont know how to use acrylics. They feel much more unnatural and difficult to me. Oils feel right because they blend so naturally. Acrylics feel like a battle against the clock or something. I agree though...painting is hard.

Oh hey, have you tried acrylic mediums that extend drying times?  Or making your own stay wet palette using a container with a lid, a damp sponge, and wax paper on top?  My paint stayed wet 3 months before I threw it out.  It probably would have been wet longer if I let it stay in there.

I do have a stay wet palette, yeah,. It works great, but my issue with acrylic is how fast they dry on the canvas. I've tried mediums that are suppose to keep it workable longer, but I didnt notice much of a difference. I still don't understand how people paint with that stuff LOL.
